Getting To Know Me
Hello — My name is Scott Sypien and I was born and raised in the city of Pittsburgh Pa. As a youngster I developed a passion for sport. Playing both baseball and soccer throughout my youth and into high school. I have always had dreams of being involved in professional sports in some way, shape, or form. As I went from student to professional those dreams slowly faded. Working a full time job, owning a house and all the bills that come with being an adult took over. Over the last 6 or 7 years I have always thought about taking up sports writing. I wanted to write about something different and really tell a story. In creating Chasing The Dream I think I have now found my topic and invite you here to read about it. After all we never stop Chasing Our Dreams no matter where we are at in life.
I am an avid sport fan. Being a Pittsburgher I support my local teams win or lose with passion. Those teams being, The Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and Steelers. I do like other teams on all levels. In Hockey I also enjoy following the St Louis Blues in the NHL and the Chicago Wolves in the AHL. As for Baseball I try to watch and get to as many games as possible no matter what the team or who is playing. After the Steelers in the NFL, i’ve followed the hard luck St. Louis Rams. My favorite all time athletes in sports are not who you might think. While I’ve always been a fan of superstars such as Mario Lemieux, Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken Jr, Steven Jackson, and Jerome Bettis my most favorite players are players who have overcome odds, persevered, and have become in some way an underdog. Those players include former NHLer Rob Brown, former baseball player Josh Fogg and current Pittsburgh Steeler Ike Taylor. What makes sports great is the unique stories that each and every person has. I am excited to share some of those stories here.
Besides being a fan or sports I am also a passionate music junkie. I enjoy concerts regardless of how old they sometimes make me feel. I like music of all kinds. Some of my favorites that I always recommend to friends, family and readers are Jack’s Mannequin, Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers, Jimmy Eat World, O.A.R. and Automatic Loveletter.
I would like to thank Alex Carroll for creating the initial Chasing The Dream logos . He does great work with logos and graphics check out his other work at his website: Alex Carrol Design.
In the summer of 2015 Chasing The Dream began to receive an update to the logos and graphics on the website. Paul McGinty co-creator of McSoss.com began updating the original graphics as well as creating new graphics for the site. Paul along with Ian Sharpley have developed their own comic from scratch and have began to build an impressive fan base. Please check out their site, podcast and outstanding work.
